Photo captured by NASA Astronaut Jack “2fish” Fischer during Expedition 52. I love the fact that the clouds on Earth perfectly match the outer edges of the solar panels.

Teachers change lives. I’m grateful for these two who have changed mine for the better.
Dr. Dolores Poulter Wilson inspired me with her enthusiasm for science and learning at Iowa Wesleyan University. Teacher, advisor and friend.
Dr. Kathleen Matthews at Rice University took a chance on me, taught me the inner workings of research and supported my goal to become an astronaut, even though it took a long time!
What an incredible honor to be recognized as a member of the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame along side these 3 amazing icons. In particular I want to acknowledge Gene Kranz for the remarkable speech. It articulated the inspiration of the time. A motivation that drove my life to incredible heights, like many others of my era. I am so grateful to have had such broad shoulders to stand upon.
Happy #InternationalWomensDay to the Trail Blazers who paved the way for my childhood dreams coming true! This group of women proved to me that becoming an astronaut could be a possibility if I worked hard and never gave up. Who inspires you?

638 days in space and the view is still amazing! Soaking up some sunset time in the cupola…
Cardiac Stem Cell Experiment
Zero gravity stem cell media exchange! The pink fluid is media – I’m removing a bit of old media and replacing it with new, little by little. There are human stem cells (early cardiovascular cells) in that little rectangular chamber. The clear part is a thin film of special plastic that keeps liquid in, but allows air to pass through so the cells can breathe!
